Announcing the 2014 Champagne Laurent-Perrier RHS Chelsea Flower Show Garden
Laurent-Perrier has commissioned award-winning designer Luciano Giubbilei to create their 16th show garden at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show. This partnership has proved fruitful in the past, in both 2009 and 2011 Laurent-Perrier were awarded gold medals for gardens designed by Luciano Giubbilei.
The 2014 Laurent-Perrier garden is comprised of a simple geometric layout juxtaposed with detail which explores the contrasting concepts of stillness and movement, elegance and rawness.
The walls of concrete and metal combine lustres and materials; the stone surfaces are executed with contrasting finishes; the flow and reflection of the water gives light and animation to the space. The planting features delicate forms alongside bolder architectural leaves – providing a colour spectrum.
“Texture is not something we just look at, it’s something we experience,” Giubbilei explains. Texture is associated with emotion,” he continues, “the way we experience space isn’t just visual.”
A wooden sculpture designed by American artist Ursula von Rydingsvard will also contribute to the garden’s exploration of texture.
The 2014 RHS Chelsea Flower Show takes place at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, London from 20 -24 May 2014. Buy tickets here.
