Best in show – 2014 RHS Chelsea Flower Show

Best in show – 2014 Champagne Laurent-Perrier RHS Chelsea Flower Show Garden from Laurent-Perrier UK on Vimeo.

We are delighted that the show garden designed by Luciano Giubbilei has been awarded ‘Best in Show’ by the RHS. Giubbilei, who has returned to design the Laurent-Perrier garden for the third time, received the award this morning for the beautifully layered creation, intended to stimulate the enjoyment of observation and contemplation by visitors to the show. This year marks Laurent-Perrier’s 16th entry at the prestigious show.

The tranquility of the design composition, with its simple geometric layout, is juxtaposed with detailing exploring the contrasting concepts of stillness and movement, and elegance and rawness. The strong wooden sculpture designed by highly acclaimed American artist Ursula von Rydingsvard has contributed to the garden’s exploration of texture with meticulously assembled layers of cedar.

The walls of concrete and metal combine lustres and materials; the stone surfaces are executed with contrasting finishes; the flow and reflection of the water gives light and animation to the space. The planting features delicate forms alongside bolder architectural leaves – providing a colour spectrum of yellows, creams and whites, punctuated by accents of blue, with a backdrop of deep green foliage.

Speaking about the award, David Hesketh MW, Managing Director of Champagne Laurent-Perrier UK commented, “We are absolutely thrilled to be presented with the ‘Best in Show’ award. Enormous credit must go to Luciano and his team for producing a truly spectacular display that perfectly encapsulates the essence of Laurent-Perrier’s heritage, passion for creativity and innovation.”

Luciano added “I’m delighted to have won ‘Best in Show’ for the Laurent-Perrier Garden this year. The design manifests my on-going passion for texture, form and light whilst reflecting the elegance, creativity and pioneering spirit of the 200-year old family-run Champagne House.”
