Champagne Laurent-Perrier releases its latest exceptional vintage: 2006
Champagne Laurent-Perrier has released its latest vintage 2006. The Laurent-Perrier Vintage 2006 is only the 26th vintage to be released in a prestigious line-up of exceptional wines.
Laurent-Perrier only declares vintages in years when grape quality is truly exceptional. This rigorous selection process ensures the resulting champagne is truly expressive of the vintage, with excellent ageing capacity, yet retains the signature characteristics of the Laurent-Perrier house style: lightness, freshness and elegance.
Crafted from the best Crus of the Montagne de Reims and Côtes des Blancs, the Vintage 2006 is a blend of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir, bottle aged in the cellars for at least eight years to increase complexity before being disgorged.
The vintage is distinguished by delicate beading and a subtle aroma with hints of fresh pineapple, dried apricots and almonds. Rounded on the palate, it strikes an ideal balance between freshness and intensity before reaching a lively finish with hints of white peach and Mirabelle plum.
Commenting on the latest release, David Hesketh MW, Managing Director of Laurent-Perrier UK said: “After a cold winter the early summer of 2006 was characterised by contrasting periods of heat wave conditions, followed by patchy rain. august was cloudy and wet with little sunshine. Fortunately the vintage was saved by the sunny days and cool evenings of September. A good sized harvest was the result, beautifully capturing the Laurent-Perrier house style of lightness freshness and elegance imparted by the Grand Crus Chardonnays of Côte des Blancs and Pinot Noirs of Montage de Reims”
The Laurent-Perrier Vintage 2006 pairs wonderfully with fish accompanied by sauce, while its roundness and delicacy will also enhance the flavours of poultry and other white meats. It was launched at a series of intimate events across the country including at The Connaught in London, The Cube in Birmingham, The Lowry in Manchester, Hotel du Vin in Glasgow and aboard the Belmond British Pullman.
