We have lift off! London’s latest hotspot KOJAWAN, takes off this month
High altitude openings in London are few and far so when we heard the whisperings about KOJAWAN we couldn’t have been more excited…
On the 23rd floor of the Hilton Metropole with stunning panoramic views and an energising, futuristic atmosphere, Kojawan is set to become a firm favourite among the city’s full-of-energy food-lovers.
The 21st Century Izakaya is a combination of pop-culture influences and flavours from KOrea, JApan and TaiWAN (see what they did there?). Its playful menu has been created by acclaimed chefs Bjorn Van Der Horst (Greenhouse, La Noisette, Eastside Inn) and Omar Romero (Rhodes Twenty Four, Rosewood) and promises a mix of Asian soul food classics with more innovative small plates.
Our particular favourites include spicy crab dumplings, rice sandwiches, braised short ribs, charcoal grilled Suffolk wagyu, Atlantic mackerel and crab-turnip ‘egg cake’, but with a menu that also includes a raw bar, charcoal oven and fire stove, there’s plenty of delectable treats to choose from.
KOJAWAN also has desserts covered with dishes including fish-shaped waffles with honey-whisky cream and PanTakos – light and fluffy pancakes filled with red fruit and topped with a white chocolate sauce.
There’s also a new twist on the set menu with two ‘flight meals’ offering a whistle-stop tour of Seoul, Tokyo and Taipei, perfect for those who can’t make up their mind or want to experience a little bit of everything.
After dinner, take a high seat at the ‘0’ bar, so named after our zero-dosage champagne, Laurent-Perrier Ultra Brut which inspired it and while away a few hours looking out over the bright lights and seemingly-infinite skyline of London. KOJAWAN is open from noon until 2am everyday so it’s an ideal suggestion for lunch, dinner or even just late-night drinks with friends.
